A sheepdog's year on a hill farm, painted in gouache. Herd ewes, lambs, stubborn rams, geese, ducks, goats and Highland cows.
Spring on Hollow Fell. The lambs are coming, Gran Peggy's knees aren't what they were, and the whole farm is counting on one young border collie: you.
- Herd with your paws, your bark and your eye. Sheep move away from you, so get round behind them and walk them where you want. Creep low and they stand and stare. Sprint and they scatter. Bark and everybody jumps.
- A whole farm with a mind of its own. Ewes and their lambs, flighty herdwicks, stubborn rams that charge if you rush them, a gander who hisses at you with his wings out, glued-together runner ducks that love the pond, goats that walk the walls, Highland cows, pigs that go their own way, and an alpaca who chases foxes and spits at dogs.
- 32 jobs through a whole year. Lambing time, a stone bridge over the beck, a thunderstorm, hay making with a tractor, shearing day, the village fete across a busy road, a heatwave, the gather off the fells, fog so thick you have to listen for the bells, a fox at dusk, snowdrifts with sheep buried in them, a frozen tarn, a blizzard and Christmas Eve.
- Four sheepdog trials. Fetch, drive, cross-drive, shed and pen like the real thing, and the judge marks every gate you miss. It all ends at the Grand Trial.
- Rosettes and the kennel. Every job is judged on time, strays and flock stress. Win rosettes to unlock new dogs: red and blue merle collies, a kelpie, a sheltie, a beardie, an old English sheepdog and a corgi with very short legs.
- A painted picture book. Every field, wall, hedge and fleece is painted live in gouache, with brush streaks, dry edges and paper grain. The four seasons each get their own palette.
- A folk soundtrack made in code. Fiddle, tin whistle, concertina, harp and bodhrán play jigs, reels, waltzes and slow airs. Every animal you pen plays the next note of a little tune.
- English, Deutsch, Español, Русский and 中文. Rebindable keys, full controller support, mouse play, a gentle mode for calmer animals, reduced motion and high contrast options.
