hey there, i have been working on my project almost since the beginning of the deadline for the game jam, but ive had a concern about the nominations. sorry if this isnt the right chat, i have spent a lot of sleepless nights learning sbox for this game jam, i have over 3000 hours in gmod, i didnt get a developer code to sbox but i always wanted one since the beginning. so i thought this would be a fun & worthwhile opportunity to lock in on something i cared about. but i notice now that many submissions have dozens of nominations already. isn't this basically a head start in the nomination period/top 5? i understand showing off projects as early as possible, but i don't know if 3 days of voting will make up for 3 weeks of voting in advance when i was thinking about submitting my project today. i don't mean to complain, but if the building period is also the nomination period, and I'm competing against people who probably have had developer access for 4 years hahaha i dont think i have much of a shot. this is my first game jam , but ive done dozens of hackathons so this isn't my first rodeo. recently i see a pattern of them basically picking the winnings before the actual judging begins and maybe this can be prevented. if the winners ending up swaying to the nominations prior to the nomination period, what does that say about encouraging newer, more disadvantaged developers & players into the game jam & ecosystem? just wanted to share some thoughts and maybe you guys will downvote me the hell out of mehahaha but maybe other people feel same way. if it was up to me in my humble opinion the nominations could hold off until the builder period ends, so the builder and nomination times are seperate so the builders can just focus on building. long story short, just thought the builder period and nomination period were separate but i didn't realize until now the nominations are currently ongoing and my submission is probablycooked cuz early bird gets the worm xd. good luck 2 everybody regardless
