image.png499.31 KBmaybe we should make a small test before s&box releases and see if this works as intended. many people argue that the curent state of s&box is really bad with slop games on the top and attracting more players with that green player count on their game. roblox does not show how many people are playing a game currently and only when someone clicks to see the main page of a game. i think doing this for a week on s&box would be a good idea to test the theory that people will actually start looking for games to play on the platform and not only the first ones on the playing now page image.png2.05 MB
Upvote that, guys! It’s a really cool idea. To summarize, the idea is to hide the player count so that people can focus on the game they want to play, rather than on the number of players. (bc we all know that players count attract people more)
This sounds like a good idea, Roblox only shows active players once you click into the game which promotes new good games to be discovered. Don't see why S&Box should be any different in this case, only difference is the servers tab which should show active players exactly like how gmod does it.
I also suggested that s&box offer 10 random games in Hub (maybe based on some criteria, like whether they take more than 5 minutes to play) every week or day to give forgotten or old games a new chance
Please also add a way to block certain games and tags from my pages. Maybe even a way to give weight to my favourite tags and genres to make them appear more often.
btw i know that the current number of players will have a negative impact on multiplayer games using this idea but a easy way to fix that is with the current servers list that displays the amount of players on each game/server

By the way, if FP updates this and publishes the changes on the blog, they’re obligated to credit me—because, let’s be honest, I’m a genius.
That's a good idea. But I think this shouldn't be done now, but when there are more players
Because it seems like these banners serve the purpose of "developing the ecosystem and joining players' lobbies." They're natively clickable with this banner - you don't need to go to the server list, you can click on a game and join an active lobby
I don't know if I'm the only one, but the old system that showed when a game was "unplayed," "played," or "updated" was quite good. It also encouraged users to go back to games they had already played when they were updated. Now it's largely overlooked.
Disagree, although it can definilty help improve discoverability, it can also hurt games on the smaller scale. In Garrys mod, It was very useufll to me to be able to quickly see how many players were playing a gamemode. Many gamemodes that were quite small its usefull to quickly see if theres actually people playing on it.
And once sbox actually has a playerbase, good games will get discovered, its always been the case.
I half-disagree with this, but I can see where the heart is.
I don't think the player count itself is an issue, but organizing games in top-down order by player count could be because it will auto prioritize games with higher player counts. That may not be indicative of how enjoyable the game is.
I personally like how Garry's Mod handled it. They would show player counts for each server, but they were not necessarily in top-down order by player count. You could organize the servers using the button at the top of the menu to organize by top-down player count if you wanted, but the option was ultimately left up to you. What I really want to see is games categorized by the type of game, such as "DarkRP," "Horror," and so on... Right now it seems to be a hodge podge of random games in no particular order.
I would argue that on the front page we shouldn't see playernumbers, Instead it should have a algorithm in place that shows a mix of populair, top-player count, and new/recommended games mixed together.
If a front page like that shows player counts, users will have a tendency to just filter on highest player count and ignore the other games.
But i have nothing against serverlist, search or the game page showing the playernumbers.
This is like chopping off your entire toe to deal with an infected nail. It won't do anything to solve the "slop" issue besides hiding how many people are playing those games from your delicate eyes.
this is only one idea of many things that could be done to fix the issue with the s&box main screen. maybe this is not the best idea so we should start thinking of what can be done because the main screen only shows the top game and does not give a single chance to starting games or good old games. they removed the work InProgress sections so we should maybe find another suggestion for that
