Hey there :)
I've recently moved all my work to the scene editor because it feels, alive, if you know what I mean. Hammer seems to have become a bit stagnant and "legacy" (if I am incorrect, correct me)
The scene editor has been very fun to work with an thankfully is nearly identical to Hammer when it comes to mapping so I am not disappointed at all and enjoy the scene editor mapping tools very much, However lighting wise I find the scene editor extremely underwhelming and I could really use some guidance and info.
My specific focus throughout my work with Hammer was lighting, my entire world revolved around lighting. So when I tried the Indirect Light Volumes in the scene editor, I was a bit disappointed however I see the vision and like this method of handing Indirect Light. Are there any plans to implement quality controls for these Indirect Light Volumes? I heard somewhere that they are intended to be fast but sometimes an artist isn't willing to sacrifice quality for speed so hopefully in the future there will be significant changes to the Indirect light Volumes that allow for significantly higher quality indirect lighting to eventually match or come extremely close to the quality VRAD in Hammer can provide.
Another question I had was related to shadows. I am coming from the CS2 Workshop tools and something I noticed about the shadows in CS2 is High Quality Dynamic shadows are layered Over lower quality baked Shadows, this provides a very pleasing, stylized, punchy look where there is a clear sharp shadow with a dark glow at it's edges. Is there any way to achieve this effect right now in s&box? I've tried multiple methods and was not able to achieve this look.
Another question is related to contact shadows. I notice real-time shadows in s&box are not a perfect representation of their mesh, this I believe Is expected but the intensity of this "floating" look is much greater than the dynamic shadows in CS2 and I was curious if there were plans to drastically improve real-time shadows.
Thank you, :)
