Custom lobbies and custom maps
The dependency on server-side code has been completely removed; you can now create your own lobbies on any map. I also add support for other maps from the Workshop, the only one I’ve found besides Union City performs very poorly. All your game progress is saved on the backend, so you can play on any device; maintaining the backend costs me nothing, and even if it goes down, you’ll still be able to use your locally saved data.
Balancing racing against NPCs and racing against players.
i have significantly rebalanced races against NPCs; all NPC difficulty levels are now genuinely beatable, and the challenge matches the rewards you earn for winning. i have also implemented a player-versus-player racing system, allowing you to challenge any player to a race.
Map update
The original map was very cramped in terms of roads, so I’ve made the new one significantly larger in area; it’s now a peninsula. While the roads are currently a bit plain, I’ll soon be adding more interesting routes for variety. There’s also a new 10km loop track where you can weave through traffic.
Physics and other things
I’ve refined the vehicle physics and fixed numerous bugs; regarding drifting, I’ve shifted the mechanics toward realism, which makes handling significantly more challenging. At the same time, I’m implementing stability systems to ensure the game feels just as good on a keyboard as it does on a gamepad. Looking ahead, I also plan to introduce a system for custom vehicle builds and guides to help players assemble their own drift cars.
I also added decals that you can upload to the car yourself; for now, you can apply only four on one car, but the limit will be increased in the future, along with even more customization options.
Conclusion and Future Outlook
I probably haven't even mentioned some of the changes there were simply so many of them in less than two weeks. I plan to keep updating the project, even though it dropped in the rankings during the very first week and new players just aren't showing up; I realize I need to put more effort into promoting the game myself, or else the whole thing is pointless. Moving forward, I’ll focus on polishing the game the UI really bugs me and likely adding more content for players, so I’ll make another post once the game has undergone a more significant transformation.
