Currently there is a problem with recommendations that lead to the same type of games being created.
or no.. Better way to say making the only profitable game you can make: Multiplayer with Social Interactions and a popular name that is recognizable.

Some examples being  RP games and tycoons. (Or simulators how they are called)

    • Why is that?  Recommendations or the lack of it,  that works.
Currently the games that have most players get the most advertising in the form of being on the top of Games tab and being the top of Multiplayer tab.  Like DXRP.

I'm not saying making such games is a bad thing-  but other types of games should be given a chance too.

And all of the other games you need to go and search... And most people don't really love to search. (Like asking somebody else to show good games that in S&box.)
Because it's nearly impossible to tell what is a good game and bad one..

    • Why is that bad>? ... well, having the most players doesn't mean the best game right ?
Well. What do you think of a platform that pushes simulators and rp games? Will you think good things about that platform?

Well the answer is NO. I talked to a quite a lot of people. People just looked at S&box after watching a video or just from a friend. And most of them at the first look think that there is nothing else to S&box than tycoons, RP games and maybe one good game. (Like Micro Mayhem)

and ... after playing a bit of those games they leave. [And that's bad for the long health of the platform.]

    • How to fix it>?
Adding any recommendation system maybe based on reviews from players or likes. (Like steam does.)

    >you should mention poke's stream

    >he acted as the average player that is playing s&box for the first time
goes straight for the top game, gets bored, hops from random game on front page to the other
     then leaves after 20 minutes

What games do you think should be being recommended right now. Like a top 5 or 10

Looking back at the Featured games, it is honestly a solid selection, any of those would be a good starter for a player, it would be easier to point out those that shouldn't be featured..

The question is what S&box wants? The games that represent S&box? or ones that hold the played the longest?

I would put games that show S&box as a platform for standalone experiences.
Games that don't need multiplayer to be great.

    Top 9

    Triggernometry
    Clean Up
    Ghoul Grounds

    Drifter
    Helicopter-chan
    My Summer Cottage

    Theme Park
    Opium
    Tetros Effect

S&box has 6 months or more of working great games. Some broken... and there is no way to tell they are broken.

While there aren't many games, I'd suggest doing another system - random leaders (day, two days, or week, no more). Of course, it's not completely random so you don't get a broken game, but the point is the same.

As I see it: every week 5 games are given, they are displayed in the main menu, you can see them literally from the entrance, and for playing them you get some bonuses (for example, points for achievements, a chance to get an avatar skin, something else). Of course, the next pack won't have those previous games.

In the end, we don't force people, but we don't interfere much with the rest of the games either, while giving some forgotten ones a chance. We could do away with randomization altogether and introduce a separate algorithm for forgotten games.

    so true...

Roblox has similiar issue with algorithm, where some games/genres just cannot find success on the platform. But in s&box case it's much better with standalone exporting being around as option. Still a problem tho

Yea, this problem still exists to some point..
(I know about garry post about recommendation algorithm)
