You won’t hear a shot. There is no gun. They don’t even need to see you anymore. They looked once, from across the room, and now they’re somewhere safe, typing.

They have your first digit. They’re pretty sure about the second.

You could run. You could duck into smoke, or blind them with a flash and disappear around a corner. But they’re not the only one looking, and every bear out there wants the same thing you do: four little numbers, and the quiet satisfaction of a pop.
