New — just published
Terry got replaced, so he retired to a lake. Come and fish with him, catch bugs and build a hut with other players.
Terry has been the face of s&box since the very start. Now a new human model is taking his place, and he got a letter about it.
So he packed a bag and went to live by a lake. He fishes off the end of the dock most days, says hello to everyone by name, and if you're the only one at the lake, he puts his rod down and comes to sit with you by the fire. He'd like the company.

What you do there
- Fish from the dock. Every fish bites its own way, and some only come at certain hours.
- Catch insects with a net: a swallowtail on the flowers, the cicada singing on a trunk, fireflies at dusk.
- Fell a tree with Terry's old hatchet and build yourself a hut out of its boards and whatever washes up on the beach. Put a stool, a bed and your souvenirs in it.
- Push a toy sailing boat off the dock and race it against Terry's, swing off the rope into the lake, skip stones, spread a picnic blanket.
- At dusk, write a few words on a paper lantern and set it on the water. Everyone's lanterns float there until morning.
With other people
Up to 16 players share a lake, and starting the game takes you to a camp that's already lit, if there is one. Sit together on the dock, pass treats round a picnic, tie a friendship bracelet on someone, and one day carve your names into the old diving board.
A day at the lake
A day lasts 24 minutes, from a long afternoon to a pink dawn. Your notebook keeps the fish you caught, the people you met and your list of things to do this summer.

Swans and cygnets, and the news reaches Terry
Oct 16, 2026
Added
- The news - Terry has read about the citizen being replaced. 16 new lines, told in turn with his memories.
- Graveyard - Seven new stones for s&box's own past: the entity system, the old main menu, Gmod 2, the Discord, before AI, the roleplayers and Facepunch's money.
Improved
- Swans and cygnets - New models. The swans sit lower in the water with their wings folded along their sides. The cygnets turn their heads, peck at the water and doze on their mother's back.
- Firefly - New model, and its card was photographed again.
- Catch slips - A fish you catch, an insect you net or a find you pick up shows its album card in the slip at the top right.
- Photos page - The picture tilts with the mouse and turns over when you click it, like the cards. Its back says where it was taken, which day and by whom.
- Other campers - When Terry talks about another camper, their name shows with their hat in their colour. One thing in three he tells is what one of you is up to.
- Old photograph - The photograph from the lake can be pinned to the side of a post or a board, not only laid on top.
- Marshmallows - The golden moment lasts 0.8 s instead of 1.8 s.
- Fire - The crackle is 3 dB quieter.
Fixed
- Summer list - In a new notebook, "Carve your name on the old oak" could not be done if your name was already on the oak. You can carve it again.
- You page - Its last lines no longer run off the page. The clothes are in two columns.
- Developing - The whole picture develops. A strip down its left side showed in colour straight away.
- Camera - Clicking fast no longer swings the camera out and back. The bow stays up for 1.2 s after each arrow.
- Nocked arrow - The arrow on the string points where it will fly, for you and for Terry.
- Footsteps - They play as each foot touches the ground, not 0.13 s before, and a jump makes one landing sound.
- Gifts - What Terry holds out rests on his open palms instead of hanging under his wrists.
- Hammock - Each end is tied round its post instead of floating above it, and the canvas is one smooth sheet.
- Hats - Butterflies and leaves that land on a hat sit on top of it instead of inside it.
A card album and fishing from the dock
Oct 16, 2026
Added
- Card album - Every fish, insect, frog and find of the lake has a card, 44 in all, photographed in the game. The notebook pages are now an album with a numbered place for each, and the rare ones are on holo foil. The card you look at tilts with the mouse and turns over when you click it.
- Fishing from the dock - Sit at the end of the dock, or on 8 new spots along its sides, and keep fishing. Look out over the water and press E or 4.
- Fish prints by hand - Hold up a catch and press R to lay Terry's rice paper over it, then rub it with the mouse. The Old Fellow prints in gold.
- Gestures - Hold B to see every gesture and its key. Press 6 to open your arms for a hug, and Terry hugs back.
- Building together - Press G on a friend's card to invite them to build at your cabane. Every board they nail has their name on it.
- Visiting - Knock on a friend's shut door and they are told who it was. You can also leave today's flower at their sign.
- Crosscut saw - Terry's saw comes with the hatchet (F). A friend takes the other handle with E and you pull in turns. The tree comes down twice as fast and you both get the boards.
- Regatta - Push off two boats at the same time and they race across the lake. The first one in wins.
- Archery - With others at the range, you take turns shooting rounds of three arrows. The best round wins.
- New in the catalogue - A hammock, a bell, a zipline and a pulley with a bucket. Anyone can ring your bell, and you are told who did.
- Walnut trees - The round trees standing alone in the grass are now walnuts. Their boards are dark brown.
- Cabane page - Your notebook draws your cabane in pencil, board by board. It keeps up to three, one standing at a time.
- Swans and gulls - Most nights a swan sleeps on the bank, and one has three cygnets that ride on her back. A gull lands on the newest thing the lake left on your beach.
- Four-leaf clover - Each day one sprig near the camp has four leaves. Look at it up close to pick it.
- Picnics - Ants and a sparrow come for the crumbs, and a wasp for the jam (wave with 1 to send it off). Pick blackberries by the archery range and pass them round with F.
- Storms - Sit out a storm under a roof and it goes in your notebook. A photo taken on a flash catches the lightning, and the fish bite better that evening.
- Map and lanterns - Find every secret and Terry draws you a map of the valley. His lantern wish can now be done with a friend, two lanterns side by side.
- Settings - The notebook has a settings page: music and lake volume, camera speed, walk or run, where the fishing text shows, and a switch for camera shake.
- Things to wear - You can earn swim trunks and the camp scarf, tuck a feather or a flower in your hat, and wear up to three friendship bracelets. Your rod's cork darkens with every catch, and your hat's brim frays over the days.
Improved
- Gifts - Terry now hands you his things himself. He calls you over, gets up and holds them out, and you take them with E.
- Terry's house - Rebuilt with a real window and shutters, a box of geraniums, a plank door and a hurricane lantern on the porch.
- Holding things - The rod, net, camera, rope and everything else sit properly in your hands. No more twisted wrists.
- Souvenirs - F opens a sheet with all your souvenirs. Click one to take it in hand.
- Boats - A boat left where it landed is back on the camp beach the next morning. Press R before pushing off to set the rudder.
Fixed
- Necks - The s&box update of 13 October gave everyone a neck. Terry and the campers have their old look back.
- Bug net - Grass no longer shows through the net.
- Camp tree - It no longer jumps to a new size when the host changes.
