Make It Count is a fast-paced Arena Shooter for 1-16 Players where each Shooter has only one Bullet in their Gun, a Knife, and Three (3) lives.
If you get a kill, you get another bullet. If you run out of lives, you're out until the next round. The player who gets the most kills at the end of 7 rounds is the winner.
Rounds have a strict time limit of 3 minutes, and an average match lasts 10-15 minutes, with 22 minutes being the absolute longest a match can take.
Round Modifiers
Randomly, a round can be different than usual. Right now, this is limited to the following
- Rats - Small Players
- Juggernaut - One Player is bigger and takes 2 shots to kill. Become Juggernaut if you kill them.
- DoubleTap - Two Bullets are awarded per kill
- Bounty Hunter - Top 3 Players in the match are highlighted and worth 2x points/cash
Controls:
- WASD - Move
- Mouse - Aim
- LMB - Shoot
- 1,2 - Switch Weapon
- R - Reload
- Shift - Walk
- Ctrl - Crouch
- F - Flashlight
Why this game mode?
I have long wanted to make my own version of One In The Chamber with my own take on it. It was never worth the time to make a whole Unity project for it. But, when I heard the theme of this jam, it was the first idea I had.
I said to myself "if thought of this immediately, other people will too" and behold, at the time of writing there are multiple other AI Generated versions of this exact idea. But I aim for something different. I am aiming for something built with intent and actual design effort.
I started by writing down physical paper design documents. Then I scoped out the game and the goals I wanted to achieve. Then I built a plan of development, alongside the prototype. And then I spent a week making it, by hand.
Make It Count is going to be more than it appears, and I guarantee it'll be more fun to play than the AI slop interpretations of this game idea.
