The plants are rectangles now. The zombies are also rectangles. The peas remain circles because we couldn’t find a cheaper shape.

Underneath the terrible new look, it’s still a five-lane garden defense game. Start with 50 sun, grow your income, and try to keep the dead off your lawn. Put a matching plant on top of another to mutate it. Two heads. Same brain cell.

• 10 gardens, from the backyard to the storm conservatory.
• 5 plants and 5 mutations, including twin shooters and bigger explosions.
• 10 zombie types. Knock off armour, break shields, pop balloons and deal with the Compost King.
• 8 warehouse upgrades with three ranks each.
• 8 achievements and 30 campaign stars.

Zombies lose gear and limbs as you damage them. The menus look like this on purpose. Your progress saves automatically.

Controls

Drag a seed onto the lawn, or click a seed and then a tile. Click sun drops to collect them. Use 1–5 to pick a plant, Shift to keep planting, right-click to cancel, E for the shovel, Space to start or pause, and M to mute.
